Naperville, Illinois Ranked #1 City for Early Retirement

Naperville, Illinois is ranked the #1 city for early retirement according to Kiplinger as of November 2013.  The cities were identified using data aggregator FindTheBest to select which cities early retirees could work a part-time job to supplement retirement income. Other factors taken into consideration were unemployment rates, average household incomes, living costs for housing and health care, tax rates, low crime rates, and high concentrations of residents ages 45-64.

What makes Naperville the #1 choice? According to Kiplinger, Naperville has the second lowest crime rate on their list and is only an hour commute to Chicago. Naperville has a pedestrian friendly downtown full of shops, restaurants and a Riverwalk.   It also has a population percentage of 27.8% for residents between the ages of 45 to 64 – the highest percentage of this age group on their list.
